In an internal combustion engine, a lever that is pivoted near its center and operated by a pushrod at one end to raise and depress the valve stem at the other end.

Construction is compromised mainly of a high-strength silicon-aluminum alloy, complete with four valves per cylinder, variable valve timing, bucket tappets used in place of traditional rocker arms and a variable intake manifold.
