A plumelike form of water and sometimes spray that occurs at the intersection of two crossing waves.

Coyote Creek: Trout fishing was good using salmon eggs and small orange Rooster Tails and Panther Martins.
Like today, when Southern California is anything but sunny, where intimidated drivers creep through rivers of standing water while daredevils swerve around them, wheels deep in the muck, throwing up rooster tails like offshore power boats, just before they lose control and start sliding sideways down Ventura Boulevard.
What about the sight of mega horsepower propelling a race vehicle, rear tires throwing rooster tails of clay, sideways through a banked turn while the driver counter steers and feathers the throttle to keep the car on the track and ahead of the other competitors?
