rotary spark gap [′rōd·ə·rē ′spärk ‚gap]

(electricity)

A spark gap in which sparks occur between one or more fixed electrodes and a number of electrodes projecting outward from the circumference of a motor-driven metal disk. Also known as rotary gap.
