route dampening

    0.04 sec.

A feature in the BGP router protocol that identifies flapping routes by adding a penalty value to the route each time it flaps (changes between available and unavailable). When the penalty reaches a preset limit, the route is no longer advertised to other routers as a valid path. See BGP.
