Rugby Sevens, an 122-year-old offshoot of rugby union that has grown in popularity in the sport's strongholds, is much what it sounds like: seven-a-side rugby, played on a regulation field under substantially the same rules as the 15-player game. In 2004, the Hooligans were 7-1 for the regular season and took second in Division III of the Potomac Rugby Union. The Australian Rugby Union (ARU) has established a similar junior program with a set of pathways designed to introduce new juniors into the sport incrementally. |
