RUP

RUP
(Rational Unified Process) Software from IBM that provides guidelines, templates and examples for each team member in the system development process. Supporting the Unified Modeling Language (UML), RUP can be used with other Rational tools to provide a uniform set of best practices for iterative development, which was developed in the 1970s. Rational calls its product the "e-coach" for software teams. The product was originally from Rational Software, which was acquired by IBM in 2003. See iterative development.
