Schizanthus
(butterfly flower), a genus of annual herbaceous plants of the family Solanaceae. The leaves are usually pinnatisect. The flowers are in panicled inflorescences; the corolla is bilabiate with entire or dissected lobes. There are about 15 species, distributed in South America (Chile). Many species are ornamentals. S. pinnatus and its varieties and hybrids (which are collectively known as S. wisetonensis) are grown commercially for their variously colored flowers. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
