This conclusion is misleading because retinal hemorrhages alone cause scotomas.
The left eye also exhibited a large central scotoma, dyschromatopsia, and a left afferent pupillary defect.
Seen by about 20 percent of migraine patients, such auras can include sparkling lights, blind spots and vibrating patterns called scintillating scotomas.
