(graphic arts)
A plain, white-coated drawing board, covered with india ink, which, when dry, is scratched with a scratch knife to produce a snow-white line; brilliant, contrasty black-and-white drawings can thus be made.

His Shorelands Summer Diary was a record of his observations of Anglesey in 1947, and contains many wonderful scraperboard illustrations and colour plates birdlife - said to be some of his best work.
She noted that her use of scraperboard as a media to produce the work was to 'get over the difficulty of not having half tone.
