The Los Angeles County Fire Department Urban Search and Rescue Team, which trained in the Castaic area, has been certified by the United Nations as capable of handling worldwide emergencies. Bear: Heart of a Hero is the true story of America's most decorated dog, an eleven-year-old Golden Retriever named Bear, a trained search and rescue dog who led the first teams into Ground Zero following the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Towers. NAVCENT coordinated a rescue effort with JTF-HOA, which tasked two Marine Corps CH-53 helicopters based in Djibouti, with Air Force rescue personnel aboard, to assist with the search and rescue operation. |
