With premier acting Academy Awards going to deserving African-Americans Forrest Whitaker and Jennifer Hudson, can we finally do away with segregationist awards shows like the BET and Latin Grammys? They seem not to mind that he had expressed the wish that Strom Thurmond, the segregationist candidate for President, had won in 1948. He regretted that decision almost at once, but his signing the document did neutralize the segregationist sentiment in his district, and he was re-elected without opposition. |
