semantic network

Also found in: Acronyms, Wikipedia 0.01 sec.
(data)semantic network - A graph consisting of nodes that represent physical or conceptual objects and arcs that describe the relationship between the nodes, resulting in something like a data flow diagram. Semantic nets are an effective way to represent data as they incorporate the inheritance mechanism that prevents duplication of data. That is, the meaning of a concept comes from its relationship to other concepts and the information is stored by interconnecting nodes with labelled arcs.

The main topics covered include the design and use of various computational intelligence tools and software, simulations of social networks, representation and analysis of social networks, use of semantic networks in design, and community-based research issues such as knowledge discovery, privacy, and visualization.
Key features include: * Database management, indexing, data mining, semantic search and navigation * Intelligent matching * Dashboards and/or portals * Integration with third party sources, databases and handheld devices * Automation of front-end functions such as CV processing The Skills Match Solutions Lab is based on semantic network technology which stores information and gives users the ability to visualise the candidate network whilst navigating and searching.
Its award winning iSense semantic network provides exciting new opportunities for publishers and ad networks seeking to generate complimentary revenue streams from semantically targeted display ads.
