During the same period in Cote d'Ivoire, 9 of 10 previously seropositive horses were seronegative, while none of seronegative horses became seropositive.
To be eligible, individuals had to be seronegative for both HSV-2 and HIV, and must have had in the past year at least four sexual partners or at least one STD.
As a part of a longitudinal study conducted in Montreal from 1996 to 2003, seronegative MSM at baseline (n = 1,890) were tested for HIV and completed a questionnaire every six months.
