Some solids, through eddying shore currents, flow back toward Al Hamra Beach.
Annual rainy season flushing has transported large volumes of sediment containing diamonds down the rivers to the ocean for millions of years; long shore currents at the mouths of the rivers have carried away fine and less dense sediments faster than the heavier minerals such as diamonds, resulting in the potential for valuable concentrations of gems and other minerals.
