Lines which do not lie in the same plane in euclidean three-dimensional space.

Skew Lines 

lines in space that do not lie in a common plane. If two lines are skew, they are contained in parallel planes, the distance between which is regarded as the distance between the two skew lines. This distance is equal to the shortest distance from the points of one line to the points of the other.
