Space Rocket

a rocket designed for launching automatic or piloted devices into space, either into earth orbit or toward other celestial bodies. The modern space rocket is a multistage ballistic rocket (launch vehicle), which carries a payload (space vehicle). In cases of long-distance flights, the space rocket is usually launched into earth orbit, from which it is subsequently boosted into space.
