A wave whose equiphase surfaces form a family of concentric spheres; the direction of travel is always perpendicular to the surfaces of the spheres.

There are two solutions of the wave equation: an inward moving spherical wave that rotates spherically [Reference 9] at the waves center, producing spin h/4[pi] to become an outward spherical wave.
In this case, cylindrical waves with planar phase front propagate inside the waveguide and are transformed to spherical waves in the conical horn with a spherical cap aperture.
There are only two possible spherical wave solutions; again an easy result.
