stamp battery [′stamp ‚bad·ə·rē]
(mining engineering)
A machine for crushing very strong ores or rocks; consists essentially of a crushing member (gravity stamp) which is dropped on a die, the ore being crushed in water between the shoe and the die.

Across the way, you can view the mine shaft, which descends 4,650 feet and boasts one tunnel that ends more than two miles from the top; and there are the blacksmith, machine and welding shops, as well as stamp mill foundations and other partial structures, to see.
An amalgamation 4-head stamp mill was built on Victoria Gulch and a gravity tramway connected this to the mine.
