We excluded tenosynovial extra-articular chondromatosis--another entity that has been reported as synovial chondromatosis originating in the tenosynovial membranes (10)--in view of the absence of any involvement of the stapedius and tensor tympani tendons. For instance, in the ear of the 3D body, surgeons can 'isolate' stapes, the smallest bone in the human body, and even stapedius, the smallest striated muscle measuring about one millimeter and view them from all directions. |
