Stereobate

stereobate
The substructure, foundation, or solid platform upon which a building is erected. In a columnar building, it includes the stylobate (the uppermost step or platform of the foundation upon which the columns stand).

Stereobate 

in ancient Greek and Roman architecture, the base of a temple or colonnade. In Greece the stereobate usually consisted of three steps; the top step (or the surface thereof) was called the stylobate.
