Stone Bramble
(Rubus saxatilis), a plant of the family Rosaceae, in the same genus as raspberry and dewberry. It is a herbaceous perennial up to 30 cm tall with creeping vegetative and erect flower-bearing shoots. The stalks of the trefoil leaves are covered with spiny hairs (as are the stems). The white flowers are gathered in cymose inflorescences. The fruit contains many stones and is composed of from two to six shiny red, tart-sweet drupes. Stone bramble grows mainly in the forest zone of Eurasia in shady woods, forest edges, and thickets. Its fruit is edible. Want to thank TFD for its existence? Tell a friend about us, add a link to this page, add the site to iGoogle, or visit the webmaster's page for free fun content. |
