The healthy skin is supplied with oxygen, both through the supply from inside and also through diffusion from outside, in which connection the proportion of the supply of the exterior cell layers of the upper skin, the so-called Stratum germinativum, located directly beneath the Stratum corneum, is normally around 50 percent.
