structured analysis Techniques developed in the late 1970s by Yourdon, DeMarco, Gane and Sarson for applying a systematic approach to systems analysis. It included the use of data flow diagrams and data modeling and fostered the use of implementation-independent graphical notation for documentation.structured analysis [′strək·chərd ə′nal·ə·səs] (systems engineering) A method of breaking a large problem or process into smaller components to aid in understanding, and then identifying the components and their interrelationships and reassembling them.
