(anatomy)
A large seromucous or mixed salivary gland located below the mandible on each side of the jaw. Also known as mandibular gland; submaxillary gland.

Warthin is "a rare cystic tumor containing epithelial and lymphoid tissues found in the region of the submaxillary and parotid glands"--the salivary glands located in the cheek near the ear.
