(industrial engineering)
The process by which an item of supply is controlled within the supply system, including requisitioning receipt, storage, stock control, shipment, disposition, identification, and accounting.
(ordnance)
The process by which anticipated demands for supplies are balanced against the projected availability of supplies in order that qualitative acquisition or disposal action can be initiated.
