swallow hole [′swäl·ō ‚hōl]
(geology)
An opening that occurs occasionally at the bottom of a sinkhole which permits direct drainage from the surface into an underground channel.
swallow hole
A term occasionally used as a synonym for owl hole although swallow holes are usually smaller.
