In reality that translates as a fat man wearing ridiculous patchwork shirts with a flight helmet and Biggles goggles who loves nothing better than swearing like a trooper - so we are talking the height of witty sophistication here.
But until Ramsay burst onto our screens - stripping into his chef whites in the opening credits and swearing like a trooper - cookery programmes in this country were dull and boring.
