Tombac
a copper-zinc alloy, or brass, containing up to 10 percent Zn. Tombac has high corrosion resistance and plasticity and is readily workable under pressure in the hot or cold state. It has an attractive color and is easily gilded or enameled. Tombac is used to manufacture radiator pipes, fittings, sheets for steel cladding, and medals. Alloys of copper with 10–20 percent Zn are called half-tombacs (seeCOPPER ALLOYS). Want to thank TFD for its existence?
