Given the poor prognosis associated with activating mutations of FLT3 kinase, the FLT3 genotype of patients was analyzed and it was found that 13 patients had a specific mutation of FLT3 called the internal tandem duplication (ITD) mutation.
The most common Flt3 mutation, the so-called internal tandem duplication, is linked to a particularly poor disease prognosis and is expected to be particularly susceptible to Flt3 inhibition.
