The mechanical part of a tape drive.


tape transport [′tāp ‚tranz‚pȯrt]
(computer science)
The mechanism that physically moves a tape past a stationary head. Also known as transport.
(engineering acoustics)
The mechanism of a tape recorder that holds the tape reels, drives the tape past the heads, and controls various modes of operation. Also known as tape drive.
