Terrorist Act

(terrorism), the killing of or some other act of violence against government or public figures, performed with political goals. Soviet criminal law views a terrorist act as one of the most dangerous political crimes and establishes severe punishments for it.

In contemporary international law, assassinations of or other attacks against heads of state, heads of government, or members of diplomatic missions, committed with the desire to influence the policies of a country, and also such acts as kidnapping of foreign diplomats or armed hijacking of aircraft, are regarded as acts of terrorism.
