(vertebrate zoology)
Ambystoma tigrinum.A salamander in the family Ambystomatidae, found in a variety of subspecific forms from Canada to Mexico and over most of the United States; lives in arid and humid regions, and is the only salamander in much of the Great Plains and Rocky Mountains.
