touch scroll

The capability of scrolling an image, page or list on a touchscreen by touching anywhere on the item and moving it. It eliminates having to point accurately at a scroll bar or to press screen icons or physical buttons. Popularized on products such as the iPhone due to their small screens, touch scrolling migrated to touchscreens on laptop and desktop computers. See touchscreen, multitouch, scroll bar and scroll mouse.
