India has no self-propelled artillery and its towed artillery, even the modern Bofors F77B guns, are some two decades old.
But security concerns this year prompted organisers to cut the number of floats from 26 to 18 and reduce the number of colourfully dressed children who traditionally follow behind the tanks and towed artillery in New Delhi's ornate central vista.
India is evaluating the Bofors FH-77 B05 L52 for a separate towed artillery requirement to augment its 410 39 calibre FH-77Bs.
