A total of 450 Gardner Energy Management's Venturi Orifice steam traps have been installed throughout the plant in a cross section of applications including heat exchangers, trace heating lines, steamers, evaporators and autoclaves, with condensate capacities of 5kg up to 9tonnes per hour per trap.
The same methods used to evaluate trace heating are being used to evaluate resistor heating and develop guidelines for their thermal management.
This is both more effective and requires less maintenance than traditional ways of doing the heating job such as trace heating (a wire that goes round a pipeline) or the dual-walled pipe method (with hot water pumped through the outer casing).
