LANE(LAN Emulation) The ability to connect Ethernet and Token Ring networks together via ATM. LANE allows common protocols, such as IP, IPX and AppleTalk to ride over an ATM backbone without any modification to Ethernet or Token Ring stations. The man walked into the northbound traffic lane on 170th Street East near Avenue M-8, where he was struck by a northbound Toyota Corolla traveling about 55 mph, CHP officials said. It would not be a carpool lane, but used as a regular traffic lane during rush hour.
