1. a person who permanently acts the part of and completely identifies with the opposite sex
2. a person who has undergone medical and surgical procedures to alter external sexual characteristics to those of the opposite sex

transsexual [tran′sek·shə·wəl]
(psychology)
An individual whose chromosomes, gonads, and body habitus mark that individual as a member of one sex, but who feels psychically to be of the other sex, with an overwhelming desire for sex reassignment through surgical and hormonal intervention.
