tunable laser
A laser that can change its frequency over a given range. In time, tunable lasers are expected to be capable of switching frequencies on a packet by packet basis.
tunable laser [′tü·nə·bəl ′lā·zər]
(optics)
A laser in which the frequency of the output radiation can be tuned over part or all of the ultraviolet, visible, and infrared regions of the spectrum.
