(ecology)
A small hummock of generally solid ground in a bog or marsh, usually covered with and bound together by the roots of low vegetation such as grasses, sedges, or ericaceous shrubs.

The cattle have been brought to the island because their grazing patterns provide short tussocky grass, which breeding lapwing prefer for nesting.
Simon says: "You go up a forest track, cross a tussocky area and suddenly come across this little sandstone gorge which is really beautiful.
