scaler (1) An electronic circuit that resizes an input signal to fit on a screen with a higher or lower resolution. It may also refer to software that resizes graphics or video. See upconvert, video scaling and video processor.(2) Refers to products that can be upgraded to much larger capacities or that will automatically expand to accommodate much greater volume. See scale and scalable. scaler [skāl·ər] (electronics) A circuit that produces an output pulse when a prescribed number of input pulses is received. Also known as counter; scaling circuit.
