ultrasonic
Refers to sound waves that are beyond the audible hearing range; typically above 20 kilohertz (20,000 Hz). The most widespread ultrasonic techniques are found in medicine, using ultrasound waves to echo back an image of a fetus or internal organ, as well as to administer therapy to various parts of the body. Contrast with infrasonic. See saser.

Pertaining to signals, equipment, or phenomena involving frequencies just above the range of human hearing, hence above about 20,000 hertz. Also known as supersonic (deprecated usage).
