(engineering)
A type of strain gage that consists of a grid of fine wires strung under slight tension between a stationary frame and a movable armature; pressure applied to the bellows or to the diaphragm sensing element moves the armature with respect to the frame, increasing tension in one half of the filaments and decreasing tension in the rest.
