WorldCat is a worldwide union catalog created and maintained collectively by more than 9,000 member institutions. Creation of an online union catalog is the first phase of a long-term project that will "likely lead to an automated interlibrary loan system" for hundreds of public, school, academic, corporate and institutional libraries in Hunterdon, Somerset, Sussex and Warren counties, according to Marsha Lubansky, Highlands' project coordinator. The state will continue using the Auto-Graphics union catalog and change from Fretwell Downing's virtual catalog and interlibrary loan management system, recently acquired by OCLC PICA, to AGent Resource Sharing. |
