To control for Type I error, Tabachnick and Fidell (1996) suggested a sample size of 10 cases for each variable represented in the independent and dependent canonical variates for each root that will be interpreted. The distribution of the sample multiple correlation coefficient r depends only on the population coefficient R, number of variates M, and the sample size N. Since the task times presented in the original problems are deterministic, they had to be transformed into normal random variates for this line balancing study. |
