On the lower surface of a dorsiventral plant structure, such as a leaf.
(zoology)
On or belonging to the lower or anterior surface of an animal, that is, on the side opposite the back.

Electrodes were bilaterally attached ventrally over the rectus abdominis muscle (at the level of the umbilicus), the internal oblique muscle (just superior to the inguinal ligament), and the anterior (approximately 15 cm cranial of the anterior iliac spine) and lateral (midaxillary line, halfway between the iliac crest and the lowest edge of the rib cage) parts of the external oblique muscle.
When these lesions extend caudally and ventrally to involve the further reaches of the craniocervical junction, critical neurovascular structures can be mobilized to provide circumferential access to the lesion.
If the genital fbi& fail to fuse, the preputial tissues do not form ventrally.
