A recent ECG Puzzler article ("Nonsustained Ventricular Tachycardia in the Elderly," September 2006: 519-520) contained several discrepencies with the current literature.
We used implanted cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) records of ventricular tachyarrhythmias to assess the role of air pollution as a trigger of these potentially life-threatening events.
In many of these patients ventricular arrhythmias and SCD may be the only manifestation of heart disease.
