(redirected from virtual headset)

virtual headphones
(1) Simulating the headphones part of a headset with regular speakers. By adjusting the timing of the sound waves, the computer's speakers aim the sound at the listener, whose location has been pinpointed by several microphones in the room. Intended for voice over IP (VoIP) conversations, it provides some of the privacy of headset speakers without the encumbrance of a head-worn device. See headset.

(2) A set of headphones that delivers a surround sound feeling to the listener. See headphones.
