A recorded message that is played by auto attendants, interactive voice response (IVR) systems, message-on-hold systems and other voice processing tools. The "prompt" is a request to input some data; a recording that does not ask for feedback is more properly called a voice "message."

Generally the system plays pre recorded voice prompts to which the person presses a number on a telephone keypad to select the option chosen, or engage in simple answers such as yes , no, or numbers in answer to the voice prompts.
TV screens, voice prompts and grooves in the ground guide the driver into a proper fit.
Unfortunately, reading through this tome is like trekking through the endless voice prompts of the dreaded automated phone systems.
