Chemicals used to treat textiles, leather, paper, or wood to make them resistant (but not proof) to wetting by water; includes various types of resins, aluminum of zirconium acetates, or latexes.

The urine/stool separation wall is formed of a discrete breathable water repellent sheet, which is located within a space defined between the skin contact sheet and the top sheet so that the space is separated into a front body part side space and a back body part side space.
This was most clearly illustrated with the various iron oxide and wax water repellent treatments.
It serves as a water repellent and protects us from the environment, particularly the sun.
