Wealthy
an autumn variety of apple of American origin. The fruit is medium-sized and spherical in shape. The smooth, thin skin is straw yellow or greenish, with a striped bloom on the side exposed to the sun. The pulp is yellowish, tender, juicy, spicy, and fragrant; it contains up to 10 percent sugars and about 0.5 percent organic acids. The apples ripen in September and can be stored until January of the following year. The tree is small with a sparse crown. In the Central European USSR the variety is winter-hardy; it also grows well in the south. Each tree produces about 125 kg of fruit. Wealthy apples are grown in the RSFSR, Ukrainian SSR, Byelorussian SSR, Lithuanian SSR, Latvian SSR, Estonian SSR, and Kirghiz SSR. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
